ROSSENDALE'S black pudding king Andrew Holt has launched a race against time to find a mystery customer ahead of Sunday's International Black Pudding Festival.

The customer, who is believed to be from the Burnley area, was caught on camera when a film crew visited Andrew's shop.

Filmed in September 2001 at RS Ireland, The Real Lancashire Black Pudding Company, Waterfoot, the show has been repeated several times on BBC2 and UK Gold.

Andrew wants the man - who was included in the final cut of Rick Stein's Food Heroes - to be a special guest at the festival.

He said: "I don't know his surname but Stuart is a regular customer who travels from the Burnley area. Unfortunately we haven't seen him for a few weeks.

"We would like him to be our guest of honour because every time the Rick Stein Food Heroes series is repeated on TV somebody will ask about Stuart."

The second annual event, which was started as an alternative to tomorrow's black pudding throwing championships in Ramsbottom, is being held from noon at the Crown Inn, off Todmorden Road, Bacup.

It includes a chance to sample black pudding dishes from around the world and entertainment from the Britannia Coconutters. Money raised will go to Derian House Children's Hospice, Chorley.

Anybody with any information on Stuart or his whereabouts should contact Andrew on 01706 872172.
