TEENAGERS from a youth action group have won praise for helping to spruce up their neighbourhood.
Burnley Lane Action Group (BLAG) Youth Club members were rewarded for their part in cleaning up an eyesore footpath alongside Rake Head Park.
It involved clearing overgrown bushes and rubbish and the youths were helped by community wardens.
The group organised the event with Frances Monk, a club youth leader.
As a reward for their sterling work, a trip to Laserquest, at Manchester's Trafford Centre, was organised for 33 members of the group, community support officer PC Nigel Keates and the wardens.
Frances Monk said: "The Youth Club had worked really hard clearing up the footpath and thoroughly deserved the treat.
"I am proud of what they have achieved and shows what an asset young people can be to a community."
PCSO Keates added: "All too often youths can be blamed for much. There is a majority of young residents that will make a significant effort for little reward."
