A MOTORIST was taken to hospital with minor injuries following an accident at the recently reopened Devil's Elbow.
The man was taken to Burnley General Hospital following the smash on the A671 Whalley Road at 9.25am yesterday.
A Ford Focus and a Fiat Punto collided on the southbound stretch near temporary traffic lights which were installed at the weekend.
The road had only re-opened on Sunday following eight weeks of strengthening work to the old Roman bridge at Devil's Elbow.
Since the road re-opened Lancashire County Council, which has been carrying out the work, has imposed a temporary 20mph speed limit while work continues to complete the improvements.
Other measures include the installation of a new state-of-the-art road surface offering vehicles greater grip.
