Clitheroe 0 Colwyn Bay 0

THE goalkeepers stole the honours on an horrendous night at Shawbridge.

Playing in heavy rain and a swirling wind both teams had chances to win the game but the final score was a repeat of their earlier encounter this season.

Colwyn's Marcus Orlik was denied by a smart Kris Richens save on 30 minutes, and the Clitheroe stopper did well to deny Lloyd Roberts moments later.

Glyn Barker had Clitheroe's best first-half opportunity but Ian Wilcock reacted well to tip his shot over.

Richens was again in action just before half-time and produced his best save of the match - a superb full length dive to keep out a powerful Calvin Davies strike.

Colwyn did eventually beat Richens but James Morton's shot rebounded back off the crossbar.

The crossbar again denied the visitors on 55 minutes, Roberts the unlucky man on this occasion, before Wilcock saved smartly from a Barrie Hart free kick.

The game was delayed for over 10 minutes as the assistant referee left the ground in an ambulance after complaining of chest pains.

When play resumed, Richens emerged as the hero.

Chris Whittingham was adjudged to have handled in the penalty area but Clitheroe's keeper saved Davies's spot kick, as well as the rebound from the same player, to ensure the game ended all square.
