Kendal Town 5 Rossendale Utd 1

ROSSENDALE crashed to a fourth consecutive defeat, increasing the pressure on manager Ashley Hoskin.

Hapless keeper Paul Eatock has seen 19 goals fly past him in the last four games and, once again, Dale lost all shape and discipline against a poor side.

Dave Foster gave Kendal the lead with a close range effort before Dale dragged themselves level on 15 minutes with the best move of the match. Jamie Dalton jinked past two players before cutting the ball back for Gareth Gardner, who hammered his shot home from the edge of the box.

But that was as good as it got for the Valley side.

Ten minutes later, Lee Ashcroft was allowed to run unchallenged from midfield before hammering a shot past Eatock, then Ricky Mercer did the same.

In the second half, Foster scored his second following a bad error from Eatock.

Dale's lone forward Ian Barker kept plugging away, but it was Paul McMenemy who completed the rout from close range after Eatock could only parry McKenna's shot into his path.

Mossley 2 Chorley 1

TEN-MAN Chorley deserved better than to suffer their fifth straight defeat, losing in the dying minutes after a spirited effort.

Goalkeeper John Gillies was unlucky to see red on 35 minutes after dashing to the edge of the box and just losing out in a race for possession with Mossley striker Mario Daniel.

Mossley had grabbed the lead on eight minutes with a quality finish from ex-Bolton starlet Chris Downey.

But the home side's rhythm soon deserted them and Chorley drew level on the half-hour, with David Gray's inviting low cross leaving David Eatock with a simple close-range tap-in.

Deputy keeper Doug Pitts was not tested until the 65th minute, when he dived smartly to keep out Rhodri Giggs' long range drive.

Chorley had a couple of chances to clinch the win but, with just three minutes remaining, their defence failed to deal with a routine left-wing cross and Giggs guided a header beyond Pitts.
