COLNE teenager Hannah Aspin is living her dream of becoming a world famous singer.

The 15-year-old has earned herself a place in the prestigious Halle Youth Choir and will be performing at the Proms in London's Royal Albert Hall next year.

Hannah, a pupil at Colne's Fisher More School, is delighted to be part of the select 65-strong choir which auditions all its members every year.

She said: "It's such a fantastic choir and I'm so proud to be in it.

"I watched the Last Night of the Proms on television on Saturday and got goose pimples thinking about being there next year. I'm so excited.

"We're rehearsing every Sunday at the BBC in Manchester and it's going to be brilliant."

Hannah, of Colne Lane, began singing at an early age and recently passed her Grade Five singing exam with distinction.

The Halle Youth Choir is open to teenagers aged 14 to 19 and is based at Manchester's Bridgewater Hall.

Hannah had to sing two pieces, one unaccompanied, for conductor James Burton and the young star admits to having been nervous.

She said: "I don't normally find auditions a problem but I was really nervous - my heart was trembling.

"It's the first thing I've really wanted to go for and I would have been torn apart if I didn't get in.

"There are lots of opportunities to meet new people who share the same interest in music and to travel. It's going to open up doors."

Hannah's first performance will be "Sing With The Halle" at Manchester's Bridgewater Hall on September 26 when people will have paid to be a part of the choir.

The soprano hopes to become a professional singer - following in the footsteps of her aunt who is an opera singer in Italy. Her favourite piece of music is Puccini's O Mio Bambino, Caro.

Hannah said: "It's a brilliant feeling when I sing.

"I've been singing since I was a tiny tot - it's just something I've always liked to do."
