I WONDER if G Ellison (LET, March 2) would still feel the same about petrol scooters and the law if one was ridden past his/her house 9am-9pm at weekends and 5pm-9pm midweek.

These 'vehicles' are extremely noisy and can be heard more than 100 yards away.

I agree we live in a First World country and that should give us the right to a quality of life that does not include being subjected to unnecessary noise and danger.

It is time 'drivers' of petrol scooters developed a social responsibility towards others without the police having to take action.
