FC Shahuda had two reasons to celebrate at a juniors football tournament in Preston.

Both the under 13s and under 16s walked away with the honours at the tournament held to raise money for the victims of the Tsunami.

Madressas and mosques from around the city joined forces to hold the juniors 5-a-side football festival at the Vida sports complex at Tulketh High School.

Mollana Zakariya of Mahadushuada helped organise the event. He told us, We will have raised over £400 today and it has been a great effort from everyone. I would like to thank our sponsors Tile Mart for their generosity and all the volunteers for their hard work in making this possible.

We managed to put everything together in less than three weeks.

He was assisted in organising the event by Mollana Illyas Desai of Jamea Masjid.

On the pitch a tense final in the under 16s section saw FC Shahuda send their supporters (and there were plenty of them!) crazy after they first equalised and then won the game on penalties.

Ikhlaaq Patel had put Noorani ahead in the first minute before a splendid left foot shot by Habib put FC Shahuda on level terms. Despite Noorani dominating for much of the remainder of the game FC Shahuda held on and took the game to penalties.

FC Shahudas under 13s side had a much more comfortable time in their final against FC Falah. They were 3-0 winners.
