THERE is a notice in Castle Street, Bury, informing the public that the council are going to introduce loading restrictions on the south side of the road, including the whole of the street facing the Drill Hall.
I have never seen anyone loading or unloading on this section of the street and doubt if anyone else has, since there aren't any businesses there.
What is the reason for this restriction? Could it be that, together with the illegal loading bays in nearby Crompton Street, it is a means of stopping disabled badge-holders from parking there?
They have been prevented from parking behind Marks & Spencer and Back The Rock by the needless use of kerb-side markings, when double yellow lines would suffice.
Bury has always been "anti-car". It now appears to be "anti-disabled".
