The A Cappella Singers are taking part in the “Mayor’s Music Series” in Clitheroe. The current mayor of Ribble Valley, Beverley Jones, was a former member of the group before leaving a few years ago.
For her series of concerts, she has engaged the singers for the Mayor's Christmas Charity Concert who will perform at Trinity Methodist Church in Clitheroe on Saturday 12th December 2009 at 7.30pm. Tickets for this concert are now selling fast and can be obtained from the mayors secretary on 01200 414408.
As Beverley is from New Zealand she has requested that the choir sing a traditional carol at this concert typically from her area, and has provided the singers with the music.
As a result of this prestigious concert for the singers, it has come to the notice of the famous soprano who sang at Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s wedding at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London, Kiri Te Kanawa has sent a letter of congratulations and wishing every one well for this performance.
This has created great interest in the Clitheroe area.
