THE WHALLEY Range part of Blackburn is to get its own bus link to the town centre.

In recent years the area has been left off the bus network, but yesterday Transdev unveiled the new service, named the Whalley Ranger.

The service, which runs every 10 minutes and costs a flat rate of £1, runs along Whalley Range and Whalley New Road before travelling down St James’ Road and Oak St and back along Whalley Range to Ainsworth Street and Penny Street in the centre of Blackburn.

Transdev’s local marketing director Nigel Eggleton said the announcement, which was welcomed by ward councillors, was particularly good news given the recent criticism of cuts to the borough’s bus network.
