A GROUP of teenagers got a taste of management after organising a club night.

More than 100 11 to 16-year-olds packed into Snug, Church Street, Blackburn, for an alcohol-free party which featured appearances by DJs MC Bonez and DJQ and Britain’s Got Talent 2008 dance troupe stars Flava.

The night was arranged by 17 of the youngsters who signed up for an Apprentice-style challenge organised by housing association Guinness Northern Counties.

And stepping into Sir Alan Sugar’s shoes was Eddie Odudu, managing director of Manchester-based events company UMS Events.

After, 13-year-old Amara Patel said: “It’s been really good fun organising all this and the club night has been great.

“I was a bit nervous at the start of the evening but as it got busy I started to enjoy it.

“We were all called up individually by Eddie to do some DJing and I loved looking after the VIPs and making sure only people with a pass went into the VIP room.

“I feel really proud of myself.”

Kirsty Ellis, from Guinness Northern Counties, added: “These young people are all sons and daughters of our customers and we were really pleased to provide them with this unique opportunity. They have taken on a tough challenge and proven to everyone what they are capable of.”
