A TOWN councillor says Darreners do not care about the new local authority.
Coun Roy Davies, who also sits on Blackburn with Darwen borough representing Sudell ward, said the turn-out at last Wednesday’s mayor making ceremony proved his point.
Darwen Town Council was launched in the summer in a bid to give the town a stronger voice.
But Coun Davies said: “Two thousand people voted for the council but only about 30 turned up to watch Paul Browne be sworn in as mayor, and most of those were For Darwen Party members.
“To me it said that people aren’t interested at all.
“They’re not bothered whether there’s a town council or not.”
