A SHOPMOBILITY unit offering cut-price electric scooter and wheelchair hire has opened at Clitheroe Market, thanks to a £5,000 grant from Ribble Valley Council.
The unit also doubles as an information point for local blind and disability action group Opening Doors.
Four electric scooters are available for hire for £2 per morning, or afternoon, and a manual wheelchair is available for short-term hire by donation.
The unit is run by Simon O’Rourke, of Clitheroe, and is open on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
He said: “The scooters are available to anyone requiring increased mobility and we hope the new service will help the disabled be more independent, as well as give their carers a rest.”
