A FORMER drayman is looking forward to improving his golf handicap having called time on his 30-year career at Daniel Thwaites Brewery, Blackburn. Derek Courtney joined the firm in 1979 and has spent the last three decades delivering beer across Lancashire.
However, the 64-year-old avid golfer, who lives in Clitheroe, has decided on early retirement – 30 years and one day after first starting work for the company.
