A TEENAGER suffered two broken legs following an accident in which his scooter burst into flames.

The 19-year-old Earby man lost control of his scooter in Carleton Road, near the junction with Pale Lane, just outside Skipton, at 2.20pm last Friday.

He was then involved in an accident with a Honda Civic heading towards Skipton, being driven by a 47-year-old woman from Blackburn.

The teenager was taken to Airedale General Hospital for treatment and the woman suffered shock, but was not taken to hospital.

A police spokesman said it was believed the scooter rider lost control of his bike on a bend and it burst into flames after hitting a wall.
