A SPECIAL school has been broken into for the third time this year — with the headteacher labelling the attacks ‘soul destroying’.

Police said two TV sets were taken at Pendle View Primary, Gibfield Road, Colne, at 3.30pm on Saturday.

Debbie Morris, headteacher at the school, which caters for children with learning needs, said it was the third time they had been targeted this year.

In total £2,000 worth of goods stolen have been stolen and significant damage caused to the building.

She said: “I find it very hard to understand how they can do such a thing. It's so sad.

"To watch them on CCTV cooly destroying things and then walking off is horrifying and shows a lack of morality.

"I want these young people to have a conscience and realise the severity of what they are doing.”

The school moved into the building, which was previously inhabited by Pendle Community High School, last summer.

According to Mrs Morris, vandals even targeted the building during the period when it was being prepared by staff from the school.

In January, she said thieves broke in and stole petty cash from the school, but money is no longer kept in the building when it is unoccupied.

In the following attack, yobs attempted to remove TV sets, but were unsuccessful and caused considerable damage in the process.

She added: "The TV sets are used to show pictures of the children taking part in activities.

“They love watching themselves. They were devastated to find things gone.

"Our budget is very short this year, so we can't replace the TV sets.

"It's soul-destroying because we have done a lot of work at the building.

"The kids love the building, but I'm becoming a bit concerned.”

Following the first two attacks CCTV was installed at the school.
