Give us some history about the pub

Formerly the Railway pub, it was bought by Inglenook Inns and Taverns and had a very impressive makeover and looks beautiful and changed the look completely and changed the name from Railway to The Stanley. What attracted me to the pub was that it has lots of history in the town one of the oldest pubs in town.

I love the fact it’s filled with history and that it’s named after our home football team. All the customers we get in are from all walks of life and put there own stamp on the venue making it an amazing place to work and be apart of the community. We are a very family focused also so we get a lot of parents who bring kids with them and especially on football days as it’s a great bonding experience. We love the fact many bring their kids in and enjoy themselves

Is there a beer garden

Yes

Do you have any darts/snooker/pool teams

Not currently - will be having pool team once tables is installed

Most popular drink served is:

Fosters or John Smiths

Most memorable moment at the pub

So far I would have to say when customers bring in dogs. We love having dogs in.

Do you have an entertainment line-up?

We have our DJ all weekend including Sundays also have rock bands booked in and special events

Have you faced any challenges within the industry

I have been in the industry for around nine years and the hardest thing to deal with it the price changes and the unknown

The best thing about running a pub is

Meeting the customers and hearing what path of life they have gone down and where they have been

The worst thing about running a pub is..

The financial crisis the country has been going through at the moment

The perfect hangover cure is...

Fry-up all the time
