A second arrest has been made after a man was assaulted and left with serious head injuries in Rishton.
The incident happened in the early hours of Saturday morning (June 17), on George Street, near The Roebuck pub.
A man in his 20s remains in hospital.
Today (June 19), police arrested a 39-year-old man on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent. He is currently in custody.
In an update, a 35 year-old man who was arrested earlier in the enquiry has been eliminated from police enquiries.
Det Sgt Craig Atkinson, of Lancashire Police, said: “The investigation into this assault is ongoing and we continue to ask for witnesses to come forward and those who might have information.
“The victim remains in hospital in a poorly condition and we want to thank the public for their kind words and messages wishing him the quickest possible recovery.”
