A brand new baby boutique is opening in Crawshawbooth later this year – and one local Coronation Street Star says he “can’t wait” to pay it a visit.
Darling Buds of Rossendale will be opening on 2 April, supplying some unique and quality clothing items for babies and children aged 0-5.
Olivia Phillips is the co-owner of the business alongside her mum, Claire Birtles, and says she is "excited" to get started.
She said: “After talking to various mums I realised there was a real gap in the market for baby clothing and baby boutiques.
“I thought there was a real business opportunity there so I took it.”
The former teacher also runs a parent and baby class called Happy Baby Studio, which she started last April.
She runs the business with best friend, Briony Aston, who is the wife of Coronation Street star Sam Aston.
The new Darling Buds of Rossendale shop will be situated directly beneath the Happy Baby Studio on Burnley Road.
Sam, who lives in Rossendale, was eager to support Olivia’s new business venture, tagging the business on Instagram and writing: “Can’t wait to kit the little ones out at Darling Buds of Rossendale”.
Olivia, who has a 15-month-old daughter of her own, says she has felt like a “child in a sweet shop” choosing brands and clothing items to stock the shop with.
She said: “We are offering something different with clothing items that you won’t find in the supermarket.
“We will be selling some beautiful gifts if you are looking for something special for a newborn or just a present that is a bit different.
“If you are environmentally conscious then we will have some lovely eco-friendly brands stocked too.
“Everything we are buying is good quality that you will get a lot of wear out of.
"We know children grow out of clothes quickly, but you could potentially pass these items down to younger siblings or other families.
“These items aren’t just going to disintegrate in the washer."
Olivia is also proud to stock some “vibrant” clothing for baby boys.
She said: “Boy clothing for babies can be quite grungy, dingy and dark.
“We have tried to get something really vibrant that the families of Rossendale are sure to like.”
Claire, who is retiring after 39 years as an NHS nurse, may even put her knitting skills to use in the future.
Olivia said: “My mum is a very good knitter so we have been talking about getting some handmade pieces in the shop... but we are just trying to get up and running for now.”
