Seven people have been arrested following a fight which saw a group of men wielding bats and machetes in a public car park.

The incident happened on Monday evening on a car park on The Esplanade in Fleetwood.

Detectives launched an investigation and following enquiries have now arrested three men, aged 41, 28 and 25, a man aged 23 and a 22-year-old man, as well as a teenage boy, on suspicion of public order offences.

All those arrested are from Fleetwood and remain in police custody.

Officers were called around 8.05pm on Monday to a disturbance in The Esplanade.

It was reported men had been fighting with weapons, including bats and machetes, in a public car park.

When police arrived the groups drove off in two vehicles.

Detectives are continuing to appeal for information and are urging anyone who witnessed the disorder, or has video footage of the incident, to come forward.

Det Insp Abi Finch-Hall, of Blackpool Police, said: “An investigation is underway following serious disorder in Fleetwood.

“We have a made a number of arrests and resources have been increased in the area.

“You should expect to see a substantial police presence in the area in the coming days while our enquiries continue.

“Incidents of this nature are rare and we understand this will have caused some concern in parts of the community.

“I would urge anyone with information about this disorder to come forward. Do you know who was involved? Please contact us if you can help.

“I would also urge anyone who might have CCTV or camera footage showing the fighting to speak to police.”
