TEN private hire vehicles were checked during an operation into the safety of taxis – and every vehicle was found to have a fault.

The operation, which was carried out by Burnley Council and Lancashire Police, saw 10 private hire vehicles checked at an approved garage.

All 10 were found to have some fault or another, some which were described as serious.

A police spokesman said: “One of the vehicles was fixed at the garage however the other nine were suspended pending the faults being rectified.
