A CHILD has suffered bad injuries in a serious crash which forced the closure of a road for several hours.
Police officers, paramedics including an air ambulance and firefighters were called to Haslingden Road, Oswaldtwistle, earlier this morning following reports of a crash between two vehicles.
Firefighters had to cut one person free from their vehicle before they were taken to hospital.
An eight-year-old child also suffered chest injuries in the accident – which occurred when a Mercedes and a Nissan Navara collided.
The road has now reopened.
A fire service spokesman said: "At 07:55 two fire engines from Hyndburn were mobilised to a road traffic collision involving three vehicles on Broadfield, Oswaldtwistle.
"One casualty was extricated from one of the vehicles by firefighters using stabilisation equipment and a hearth kit and conveyed to hospital.
"A further casualty was treated at the scene by paramedics. Firefighters were in attendance for approximately forty five minutes."
