Police are continuing to appeal for information after shots were fired at a car in a 'targeted attack' over the bank holiday weekend.

Officers were called at around 2.25pm on Sunday to Briery Close in Fulwood, Preston, after receiving reports a car had been damaged.

Fortunately nobody was injured but it is believed shots were fired at the vehicle.

An investigation was launched and following enquiries police believe the offenders made off in the direction of Holme Slack, possibly in possession of a push bike and an e-scooter. They were wearing all-black clothing and balaclavas.

Two men - aged 28 and 22 and from Preston – have since been arrested and both have been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Enquiries are very much ongoing and the police are continuing to appeal for information.

Det Ch Insp Mike Gladwin said: “Our investigation is ongoing and we are working hard to establish who was behind this despicable attack.

“It is nothing more than good luck that that nobody was injured, or worse.

“We are now asking anybody who can help with our enquiries to come forward.

"Perhaps you think you know who is responsible, maybe you witnessed the incident or saw something suspicious in the area, or maybe you have dashcam or CCTV that was recording around the same time.

"Whatever you know, please get in touch with us straight away.

“We would like to stress that we believe this was a targeted attack and that there is no wider threat to the public.

"However, we appreciate that this will have been extremely concerning for the community and we have stepped up patrols in the area.

“Anybody with concerns is welcome to speak to an officer.”
