A water main was burst on King Street this afternoon by a ‘third party’ which was working in the area.
The burst saw water flying into the air and flooding into the town centre road for about 40 minutes, according to a witness.
United Utilities confirmed that they received a call and that engineers were onsite this afternoon repairing the water main which damaged by a third party working in the area.
A video showed a Cadent gas van parked next to the water leak which was coming from an area of underground works.
The witness added that it looked like the town centre road ‘had its own fountain’ as water was above the roofs of properties nearby.
United Utilities also confirmed that some people have reported they are without water.
A spokesperson for United Utilities said: “Our engineers are currently onsite at King Street, Blackburn repairing a water main damaged by a third party working in the area.”
