Shirley Walker raised an amazing £1800 for Macmillan Cancer Support by having her head shaved.

She took on the challenge in memory of her father who was assisted by the Cancer charity before he passed away.

Shirley who works at the Graham & Brown Distribution Centre in Padiham ‘braved the shave’ as the company celebrated its 75th year in business. Graham & Brown is hosting a number of product launches and events to help raise £75,000 for charity during the anniversary year. 

Shirley said: “I was very nervous! But happy to support this cause as it is close to my heart. 

"Macmillan looked after my father before he passed away and which enabled him to stay at home instead of hospital.”

“This year is our 75th year in business and to mark the occasion we have formed a global charity committee at Graham & Brown which includes colleagues from our UK, French, Dutch & US offices and have pledged to raise £75k to donate to charities around the world that are close to our colleagues hearts throughout the year. 

“We are supporting all of our colleagues to help them give to the charities of their choice as well as continuing to support Blackburn Youth Zone as our key local charity.

“Shirley has decided to be very brave and has agreed to shave her head to raise money in support of Macmillan - what a brilliant thing to do.”
