A former shopkeeper has decided to put his customer service skills to the test and open his own estate agents online.

Aspiring property professional, Sandeep Shukla, a former convenience store and Post Office owner of 13 years, is now using his experience to launch an estate agency with the backing of global estate agents Century 21.

Mr Shukla, from Preston, said: “I have lived and worked in Preston for many years, so I have a great understanding of the local community and recognise what people value here, not only from a property perspective, but also with customer service – they want honesty, good communication and a personable attitude.

"Having spent over a decade working in this community, I think I’m well-equipped to fill the gap in the market, even without the high-street presence.

“It’s a really exciting and promising time for people who are thinking of making the move here, as for the fourth year running, Preston was named the best city to live and work in the North-West of England, beating Manchester and Liverpool.

“I’m hoping to bring a diverse portfolio of properties to Preston and Southport in the coming months, with the aim that these will appeal to a range of househunters.”

Head of franchising at Century 21 UK, Chris Summers, added: “It’s clear Preston is becoming a very desirable place to live, so I’m delighted to see Sandeep taking his first steps into the market here, all under the wing of our well-established brand and in a location proving so popular.

“Sandeep will be benefiting from the Century 21 ‘Flex’ business model which allows him the freedom to build his own agency without the fixed costs of maintaining a high-street office.

"Importantly though, he will be able to set his own working hours to fit comfortably around his family life, while also allowing busy yet hopeful renters to take advantage of the business’ flexibility outside the typical 9am – 5pm operating hours.

“Preston househunters will now have the opportunity to work closely with Sandeep, and take advantage of his vast knowledge of the local area, not to mention his honest and positive character.

"I’m pleased to welcome Sandeep to our growing network and I look forward to supporting him.”
