HEALTH bosses have moved to reassure expectant mums about visiting rules at the maternity unit.

Natasha Macdonald, the head of midwifery at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust, has assured patients that no changes have been made to the current visiting rules.

To reduce the spread of coronavirus, expectant mums are only allowed to have one named companion, over the age of 18, at the hospital with them.

The same person is allowed to every scan appointment, visit maternity triage, or the early pregnancy unit.

They will able be able to be there for the whole labour process, visit the rainbow suite if needed, and visit the post and antenatal wards between 9am-9pm.

The hospital's maternity team will be regularly updating expectant mums with any changes.
