OVER 40 deaths have been recorded in East Lancashire Hospitals Trust this week - as the country hits a tragic landmark.

Yesterday, the hospital trust reported 31 deaths and a further 11 have been reported today (January 13).

The worst days in the trust were January 11 when seven deaths occured, on January 10, the trust saw 15 deaths and January 8 when 10 deaths were recorded.

On January 9, six Covid-19 related deaths were recorded, one death occurred on January 6 and one on January 2.

Two other deaths recorded occurred in December, one on December 10 and one on December 15.

This news comes as the country has now seen over 100,000 Covid-19 related deaths since the start of the pandemic after a record 1,564 fatalities have been reported today.

In other hospital trusts, 22 other deaths have been recorded, six in Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, 11 in Blackpool Teaching Hospitals and 5 in University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust in the past 48 hours.
