PEOPLE who have travelled to Lancashire from a tier 4 area are being urged to self-isolate and get tested for coronavirus.

Blackburn with Darwen's Director of Public Health, Dominic Harrison told BBC Radio Lancashire that anyone who has travelled to anywhere in Lancashire from a Tier 4 area since last Wednesday should self-isolate for at least five days.

He said: "Anyone returning from a tier 4 area over this weekend should get tested.

"Of course there are some issues with getting tested if you don't have symptoms, so we are going to try and do some work on that later today and will release some information about how people may be able to get tested if they are asymptomatic and have returned from a tier 4 area."

People in London, the South East and East of England have been placed in a new Tier 4, effectively returning to the lockdown rules of November, and will not be able to join or form Christmas bubbles.

For everyone else in England (including Lancashire) the Christmas “bubble” policy – allowing up to three household to meet up over the holiday period – will be severely curtailed to apply on Christmas Day only.

The new tier was announced by the Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Saturday.
