THE OWNER of a new salon has managed to overcome the huge challenges posed by the pandemic and will be opening this week in Blackburn.

Harvey McNally has wracked up years of valuable experiences working for international hairdressing chain Toni & Guy in London, having tended to the hair of celebrity clients including pop star Rick Astley.

However, owning his own salon has always been the dream which has now come true with the opening of his shop in Preston Old Road, Cherry Tree.

Mr McNally, a colour specialist with 10 years' experience, said: “I started my Toni & Guy journey in Preston and then I was given the opportunity in London which was brilliant.

Lancashire Telegraph:

“But I always wanted to set something up for myself, all my family are in Blackburn and I’ve always wanted my own salon in my home town.”

Mr McNally says that he has been using the last two months to give the salon a complete refurbishment and hopes to achieve an open, rustic look.

Salons were first ordered to close in March this year and, following a respite over the summer, were then again given no option but to close their doors with the onset of the second national lockdown in November.

However, Mr McNally has not been deterred and will be ready with PPE and social distancing regulations.

Lancashire Telegraph:

He said: “I’ve had a few setbacks due to Covid but it is what it is and I’ve used the time positively to make sure everything’s ready.”

Mr McNally will be working alone to begin with but hopes to recruit new members of staff in the new year and says anyone interested should keep their eyes out.

Harvey McNally Hair Salon will be organising a soft opening for family and friends today before opening to the public the next day.
