Seven more people in East Lancashire have died with Covid-19 since figures were last updated on Wednesday afternoon.

In the last 24 hours, Blackpool Teaching Hospitals registered a further five deaths, Lancashire Teaching Hospitals one, Southport and Ormskirk one, and University Hospitals Morecambe Bay three.

That means that since yesterday, 17 people are said to have died with Covid-19 at hospitals across the county.

Of the 17 new fatalities, seven were recorded at hospitals within East Lancashire, taking the total number of deaths at facilities managed by the East Lancashire Hospitals Trust to 395.

One more covid-related death was registered at a facility within the Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, since Tuesday, which includes the Royal Preston Hospital, taking the death toll there to 352.

Three more deaths were registered at units within the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay in the last 24 hours, taking the tally at facilities managed by this trust to 276.

A total of five deaths were recorded at hospitals in Blackpool, meaning 378 people have died with Covid at facilities in that region.

And one more person is said to have died with Covid-19 recorded on their death certificate at a hospital within Southport and Ormskirk Hospitals Trust, taking the death toll there to 227.

The total number of people to have died with Covid-19 at hospitals across Lancashire since the start of the pandemic is now sitting at 1,628.
