My neighbour is a sister on an Intensive Care ward. She works nights and for her entire 12 hour shift she has to wear an energy-sapping Haz-Mat suit.
Throughout the Covid-19 crisis, not only has she never missed a shift, there have also been times when she has covered day duties when other staff have not turned in.
Will there be a clamour for her to receive an Honour? Not a chance.
Now, if she was earning 35 million pounds a year for driving a car round a track, plus living in a tax haven, then it would be a totally different story.
I can’t help but think that we have got our priorities all wrong.
