One lane of a bypass has been partially closed.
The southbound carriageway of the A56 Accrington Bypass, close to Rawtenstall, currently has one lane closed following an earler multi-vehicle crash on the A682, which left a large amount of diesel on the carriageway.
There have been no reports of any injuries from the crash, which emergency services attended at around 3pm.
Highways have been informed and are en-route to assist in dealing with the spillage.
A spokesperson for the road police said: "An earlier collision on the A56 southbound near Rawtenstall has left a large amount of diesel on the road.
"We are currently waiting for Highways to come and deal with it but until then one lane remains partially closed and is causing some disruption in the area."
