THERE have been no further coronavirus-related deaths confirmed at East Lancashire's hospitals yesterday or today, figures have revealed.

Four people have passed away this week at Burnley and Blackburn’s hospitals after testing positive for covid-19 after several weeks of no new deaths in the east of the county.

East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust has announced 216 deaths linked to covid-19 since the start of the pandemic.

Meanwhile, there have been 153 coronavirus-related deaths recorded at the Southport and Ormskirk NHS Foundation Trust and 175 by the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust.

Across the UK, 17 people have died after contracting covid-19 in the last 28 days,

A total of 41,988 people in the UK have now passed away after testing positive for the virus.

Figures up to 4pm today have found that there has been an extra 5,693 confirmed cases in Britain in the last day, raising the overall number since the start of the pandemic to 434,969.
