CHART-topping East Lancashire star Diana Vickers is set to return to the world of the TV talent show.

The Accrington singer and actress, who shot to fame on The X Factor in 2008, is to take part in ITV2’s new series – Celebrity Karaoke Club.

The six-part series in the autumn will see celebrities unleash their vocals as they head into a karaoke bar with the hopes of winning the competition.

An ITV spokesman said: “Whether their voice is like Mariah Carey or Mariah Scarey, in this competition it’s all about the love of karaoke and commanding a stage – in everything from epic solo performances to group battles.

“But there’s a twist, because the people they will have to impress are their fellow competitors, every celebrity karaoke singer is also a karaoke judge.

“At the end of every episode they’ll be sending someone home, with new celebrities joining the competition also hoping to be crowned the karaoke king or queen.”

Diana, 29, was tipped to win X Factor but went out in the semi-finals.

She signed a record deal with RCA Records and after touring with her fellow finalists from The X Factor, played the title role in a West End revival of The Rise and Fall of Little Voice.

Her 2010 debut single, Once, charted at number one on the UK Singles Chart and her debut album, Songs from the Tainted Cherry Tree, hit number one on the albums chart.

Her follow-up singles, The Boy Who Murdered Love and My Wicked Heart, reached the top 40 and top 20 respectively.

Diana unveiled her debut fashion line in 2011, and her boho-chic approach to fashion has received praise from British fashion media.

She made her film debut in The Perfect Wave and her television acting debut in the comedy series Give Out Girls, in 2014.

Paul Mortimer, ITV’s head of digital channels, said: “We’re thrilled about the arrival of Celebrity Karaoke Club on ITV2. The cast of celebs will be well-known to ITV2’s audience, though not necessarily for their singing.

“However, they are sure to entertain viewers with some impressive and hilarious performances this autumn, as they battle it out to be crowned the ultimate karaoke champion.”

The other celebs taking part include, TV favourite Scarlett Moffatt; comedian and Loose Women regular Judi Love; comedian and TV host Joel Dommett; TV and radio presenter Roman Kemp; and TV and radio host Melvin Odoom.
