Police investigating a hotel brawl which saw seven people armed with machetes have arrested two men in connection with the incident.

The men - one aged 25 from Wigan and one aged 26 from Preston - were taken into custody following the incident at a Blackpool hotel on 5 July.

Yesterday, detectives released images of two men - both in their 20s and with connections to Preston - who they wanted to speak with about the brawl.

A Lancashire Police spokesperson said: "Yesterday we asked for your help finding two men we wanted to speak to in connection with disorder at a Lancashire hotel.

"We can confirm a 26-year-old man from Wigan and a 25-year-old man from Preston have now been arrested."

It follows three other men who were arrested in connection with the incident.

Officers were called at around 11.15pm on 5 July to a hotel on Queens Promenade, Blackpool, following reports of a public order incident.

When they arrived they discovered that a group of around seven men who were in possession of weapons, including machetes, had attacked another group of men before running from the scene.

Three people were taken to hospital for treatment but have since been discharged.

It is believed all parties involved are known to each other.

Following initial investigations, three men from Preston, one aged 17, one aged 18 and one aged 36, were arrested on suspicion of violent disorder.

The 36-year-old - Patrick Gavin, of Leighton Street, Preston - was charged with violent disorder and appeared before Preston magistrates on 22 July.

The other two males were released on bail.
