Burnley police station cells are reopening after spending the past few months empty.

The holding cells - which they called its 'bed and breakfast facilities' - were closed due to coronavirus and have been left since.

Announcing the reopening online, a police spokesperson said: "We are pleased to announce that we will reopen our doors from this Monday and we are currently preparing our suites and booking in facilities for our guests.

"Unlike other bed and breakfasts in the area we do not hope to see you soon."

Since lockdown began in March and the cells closed, officers in Burnley and Pendle police station made use of facilities at Greenbank in Blackburn.
