A BARBER from Darwen has set up his own video blog to showcase the ever-evolving industry.
Andy Jones, of Andy Jones Men’s Salon, first opened his barbers in Bolton Road in January 2017.
Since then the 27-year-old has been across the globe to pick up techniques in barbering and has recorded his travels.
From Florida to Dubai, the men’s hairstylist said that lockdown has been a chance for him to showcase his presenting talents.
Andy said: “I have always been influenced by barbers in the USA and before lockdown I had the chance to travel out there to see how they work.”
“I have used my time to start up the vlog and I have had some really good feedback from colleagues, clients and people within the industry.”
The former Blackburn College hairdressing student also said that having a vlog is the future for influencers like him within the barbering industry.
He added: “I’ve been in hairdressing for over 12 years having worked in Manchester and Ireland.
“When you travel you notice that we all have the same techniques but there’s always something that you can learn.
“That’s why I wanted to share my journey and bring something different with my business.”
The entrepreneur has his own range of styling products that are sold exclusively in his barbers.
Alongside him, there are four other barbers — Ell Ashton, Harry Hartland, Clayton Duxbury and Shane Moran.
Plans to grow Andy Jones Men’s Salon and open another shop are on the owner’s agenda.
Andy added: “I love what I do. I want to influence others and set up another place in another part of the world. I don’t know where that will be yet.”
During lockdown the barbers closed and opened up on Saturday and, because of Andy’s previous online booking system, he said business is flowing.
He said: “We have always used an app to book appointments and it has always been a way of keeping clients in order, with the app, it works really well.”
