The driver of this BMW took the term 'drink driving' to new heights when he was caught red-handed with an open bottle of beer in his lap while travelling on the M6.
Early on Tuesday morning officers were alerted to a vehicle that was driving dangerously on the motorway, heading from Cheshire towards Lancashire.
When the car was stopped, police found 14 bottles of beer in the footwell and one which was open in the driver's lap.
The driver provided a positive breath test and was arrested at the scene.
A police spokesperson said: "Information has been passed to us by Cheshire motorway police group of a vehicle driving dangerously M6 northbound entering the North West motorway police group area.
"The vehicle was stopped and the driver was literally drinking whilst driving.
"Fourteen bottles of beer were in the footwell with one open on the driver's lap.
"Driver arrested for positive breath test."
