TRADE unionist from around the North West gathered in Blackburn yesterday for a car cavalcade in protest against the planned closure of Blackburn College’s Trade Union Health and Safety Education Centre.
The controversial closure has provoked opposition since it was first announced in May, with a protest having already taken place last month.
The cavalcade starting in the town’s Aldi car park was the latest demonstration organised by Blackburn and District Trades Council.
Committee member George Davies said: “We’re urging the college to consider reversing its proposed plans and instead consider our plans to extend the training centre.”
The college says redundancies will be avoided where possible.
