NO new coronavirus deaths have been reported from within any of Lancashire's hospitals of the last 24-hour, the latest figures show.

It means the total number of hospital deaths across the county remains at 982, with no fatalities reported from any of Lancashire's five hospital trusts.

It is the second time these week that no deaths have occurred after a patient tested positive for COVID-19.

On Thursday, seven new deaths were reported to NHS England.

Of those seven, four deaths were recorded within facilities operated by Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, which operates the Royal Preston Hospital.

The trust has now recorded a total of 239 fatalities.

The remaining three deaths took place in units operated by Blackpool Teaching Hospitals, where doctors and nurses have treated a total of 232 people who have passed away following a positive diagnosis of COVID-19.

Elsewhere, the East Lancashire Hospitals Trust, has recorded 199 deaths and the Southport and Ormskirk NHS Foundation Trust has reported 146 fatalities.

None of those deaths were reported in the latest figures.

In the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust, 166 people have died from a coronavirus related illness.
