MAGISTRATES have handed a man a 10-week suspended sentence after he admitted an assault charge.

Appearing at Manchester Magistrates’ Court, Wayne Green, 53, of Rydal Road, Little Lever, Bolton, pleaded guilty to assaulting William Bretherton causing him actual bodily harm on December 15, 2019. Green was committed to prison for 10 weeks suspended for 12 months and was ordered not to enter the Queens Elizabeth pub on Fletcher Street, Bolton, for six months. He will also pay £250 compensation, a victim surcharge of £122 and costs of £85.

l A SALFORD man has admitted possessing cannabis while in Bolton. Stephen Prescott, 34, of The Polygon, Salford, pleaded guilty to possession of three snap bags of a controlled Class B drug on May 27. Prescott denies driving a vehicle in Bolton which he was prohibited from doing by a criminal behaviour order made by Manchester Magistrates’ Court on March 24. He will appear for a trial at Manchester Magistrates’ Court on July 7.

l A MAN has pleaded guilty to drunk and disorderly behaviour in a public place. At Manchester Magistrates’ Court, Thair Rajput, 48, of Bradford Street, Bolton, admitted committing the offence on Bradford Street on May 29. He was discharged conditionally for 12 months and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £22 and costs of £85.

l A MAN who breached a non-molestation order by contacting a woman through Facebook has been fined £240. At Manchester Magistrates’ Court, Thomas Andrew, 34, of Washacre, Westhoughton, Bolton, admitted making a phone call and sending a Facebook message to the woman on May 7. He then sent another Facebook message to her on May 25. A restraining order was made prohibiting Andrew from contacting the woman or entering Goodiers Drive in Salford or the Sports Direct store at Regents Retail Park in Salford for two years. He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £34 and costs of £85.

l A SHOPLIFTER has admitted stealing items from shops across Bolton during October and November last year. Natalie Belfield, 34, of Old Well Close, Little Hulton, targeted Savers, Home Bargains, Heron Foods, Shriram Stores, Asda and Iceland, taking a number of items including chocolate, cleaning products, perfume and a turkey crown. Appearing at Manchester Magistrates’ Court, Belfied also pleaded guilty to assaulting Sharon Lewer on October 26 and Cheryl Gibson on November 23, with both offences taking place in Bolton. She was remanded in custody for sentencing at a later date.

l A MAN was jailed for 12 weeks after he admitted breaching a restraining order. Appearing at Manchester Magistrates’ Court, Jordan Crosby, 30, of Windermere Road, Leigh, pleaded guilty to contacting a woman on May 21 which he was prohibited from doing so following an order imposed on May 14.
