A MAN has been arrested after two incidents involving a weapon took place in a town overnight.

At around 22.45 on Tuesday officers were called after an incident involving two cars took place at the junction of Harold Avenue and Rossendale Road in Burnley.

Damage, which is believed to have been caused by a man with a weapon, was caused to one of the cars.

Around an hour later there was another disorder incident on Venice Avenue in the town, where a man was seen brandishing a weapon on the street.

Police officers are now urging anyone with information on either of the incidents to get in touch.

A police spokesman said: “At approximately 22:45 hours on the 2nd June 2020, there was an incident involving two vehicles at the junction of Harold Avenue and Rossendale Road, Burnley.

“We believe that damage has been caused to a vehicle by a male in possession of a weapon. Around one hour later, there has been a further incident of disorder on Venice Avenue, Burnley whereby a male has brandished a weapon on the street.

“One male has been arrested in relation to this and is currently in custody. If anyone has witnessed these incidents then we would urge you to get in touch.

“Likewise, if anyone lives in that area, please check any CCTV cameras, dashcams or any mobile phone footage they may have obtained.”
