A TOTAL 828 people have now died in Lancashire's hospitals after testing positive for the coronavirus.

The latest figures published by NHS England show that eight new deaths have been registered by trusts across the county in the last 24-hours.

Six of these deaths occurred at the hospitals run by Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, which operates the Royal Preston Hospital and is the Trust with the highest total number of deaths with a fatality rate of 191.

The remaining two deaths were reported by Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust which now has a total death toll of 168.

The East Lancashire Hospitals Trust, which operates the Royal Blackburn and Burnley General hospitals has reported no new deaths and has remained at a fatality rate of 177.

Similarly University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust has remained at a total of 159 and The Southport and Ormskirk NHS Foundation Trust at 133 each with no new deaths reported.
