A MUM has created a fun challenge for children to enjoy during lockdown.

Steph Hadfield, from Accrington, created a way to get her own daughters fit as well as giving them a little art project to do on their walks at Arden Hall in the town.

The mum of three got the idea when she realised her daughters, eight-year-old Harriet and three-year-old Penny May, were bored going for regular walks.

The challenge asks children to complete exercises as they walk along searching for the next sign. Once they get to the end, there is a rock garden, where they can take a rock and paint it at home before leaving it at the garden.

Steph said: “When doing our daily exercise walks I was always finding ways to challenge the kids so they didn’t get bored or tired of just walking, and I thought it was perfect to put challenges up for children to do.

“The rock garden helps children show their creative side and brings happiness to everyone.

“My daughters love the challenge. We go up every couple of days and they love seeing all the amazing rocks added to the garden."

She added: “People on Facebook have been tagging me in posts that children have completed the challenge, and I just think it’s amazing.

“I love being creative as I run sensory sessions and messy play sessions at Limitless Hub on Cannon Corner in Accrington.”
