A HUGE fire tore through an allotment and destroyed sheds.
Burnley fire service were called to Hollingreave Road in Burnley at 6pm, where they found a large fire occupying the allotment.
The fire could be seen from a distance away, signalling how big it was and how quick it was spreading.
Mixed waste was involved in the fire as fire fighters spent two and a half hours tackling the blaze.
A spokesman for the fire service said: "It was a waste of valuable resources and could take us away from serious incidents.
"Firefighters extinguished the fire using two main jets and one hose reel. Crews surrounded the fire around 19:15hrs and remain in attendance damping down."
Three sheds were also caught in the fire and destroyed.
Fortunately, nobody was there at the time, and the owner arrived in site after the fire was reported.
It was started deliberately by youths seen running away from the scene as confirmed by police.
Police are currently investigating the incident,
