CLUB officials and fans showed some real Christmas spirit at Accrington Stanley’s Crown Ground on Boxing Day 2004.
For heavy overnight snow covered the pitch and a major clearing-up operation was underway in a bid to save the Reds league match against Halifax Town.
Derek Chadwick, who was normally to be found supervising turnstiles, is pictured trying to clear the snow from the pitch.
Sadly in spite of his efforts and those of many others who headed down to the ground to lend a hand, the match was called off due to the pitch being frozen underneath.
