LAST week’s picture - above - showed the steps leading to the upper floor of the 1657 Chocolate House in Branthwaite Brow built in the 1630s and used as a private dwelling.
The name for the shop was chosen because that was the year chocolate was introduced into England.
There used to be another similar set of steps, two doors further up leading to Airey’s Refreshment Rooms.
