A COLOURFUL stole was presented to the Rev Amanda Reynolds to officially welcome her as the minister of Kendal Unitarian Chapel.

Rev Mandy has held the post since August 2019. At the special service of welcome, the chapel was described as “overflowing” with guests from all over the country and from many denominations and faith groups.

Rousing hymns were sung and greetings were brought from other Unitarian congregations.

The stole was presented by retired minister Rev Griff Jones and the address was given by Liz Slade, chief officer of the General Assembly of Unitarian and Free Christian Churches.

Afterwards, friends gathered at a reception in the schoolroom next to the chapel.

Kendal Unitarian Chapel, off the Market Place, is the oldest place of worship in the town centre and was founded in 1720.

Many events are being planned to celebrate its 300th anniversary.
